If you are an affiliate marketer, then you are able to speedily source an affiliate product, pen a few articles and send them to the top article directories linking back to your associate web page to draw in those much deserved commissions.

Dealing with Garden Pests

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

While tending to my own garden, I have found that one of the most frustrating things that can happen to a gardener is to walk outside to check on your plants. It is just a routine walk to make sure that your garden is thriving, but you end up finding holes in all of your plants that looked fine only hours before. The explanations for some of these plant-destroying holes are garden pests. Some of the main garden pests are slugs, worms, caterpillars, birds, snails, and the occasional gopher. Although you can never wipe out these pests entirely, after all your hard work in the garden you have to do something.

Insects are one of the worst things to have in your garden; they can live under the soil, in old weeds or piles of leaves, or in a number of other places. In order to help keep insects away, always try and eliminate places in your garden and near your garden that these insects and other plant diseases could be living. Remove old leaves, weeds, or any other decaying matter that insects and diseases could be living in from your yard. Also, regularly turn over your garden soil and break apart any clumps of dirt so that you can eliminate the living spaces any insects that might be hiding underground.

Another way to rid your garden of the pests is to use dormant spray, which is used to keep destructive insects and diseases under control. It is best that you use dormant spray when your plants are dormant, usually around February or early March. I have used dormant spray many times on my garden and it has worked wonders on keeping insects out. But as I learned from experience, dormant spray is only effective if you follow the correct instructions. When I first decided to use some on my garden, I just dumped it everywhere in hopes of killing everything harmful. Unfortunately I ended up killing my entire garden along with my neighbors. Some insects can be beneficial to your garden though, so be sure to find out which insects help your garden.

Another pest problem I have had besides insects has been birds. Whenever I see birds in my garden I run outside a chase them away, but as soon as I step inside they come right back. The solution that I have come up with to keep the birds away from my garden is to put a bird feeder in my yard. Instead of costing me time and money by eating my garden, the birds eat at the bird feeder. In the long run it will save you money. Not only can a bird feeder help keep birds away from your vegetable garden, but they can also be a new part of your yard decoration. Although not completely eliminating my bird problem, my bird feeder has made the problem smaller. Getting a dog has also helped.

If you start seeing mounds of dirt around your yard, and your plants keep unexplainably dieing, you can assume that you have a gopher problem. Thankfully, this is one of the few garden pests that I have not had. However my friend has struggled with a tremendous gopher infestation, so I decided to research it. Gophers are rodents that are five to fourteen inches long. Their fur can be black, light brown, or white, and they have small tails. One method of getting rid of these root-eating pests is to set traps. The key to successfully capturing a gopher using a trap is to successfully locate the gophers tunnels and set the trap correctly. Another way to get rid of them is to use smoke bombs, which you place into the tunnel and the smoke spreads through out it and hopefully reaches the gopher.

If you suspect that your gardens are being pillaged by any of the pests I mentioned, I encourage you to try your hardest to eliminate the problem as soon as possible. The longer you let the species stay, the more established it will become.

RentinNerja Changes Name To RentIn-Nerja

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

As the SEO specialist for the RentIn Group I am responsible for the smooth operation of Search Engine Marketing and natural rankings within the search engines !  Under normal circumstances the development of the Apartment Rentals / Villa Rentals sites for locations across Spain is generally business as usual, yet the original Nerja site needs a slight name change to fit in with the other websites representing areas such as Mijas, Marbella and Javea.

Now this is a worrying time!  The transfer of content etc is not the problem, its keeping the visitor traffic from the search engines coming to the site which presents the problem when changing domain names.  Why? . . . because all of the links already listed by Google are all pointing to the old domain name, which provides the “authority” count for Google as part of its valuation on how important the site is compared to every other site on the same subject.  So the question for me is how do I go about transferring all of this good ‘authority’ indexed by Google – over to the new domain and avoid loosing our position within Googles Search Results.

Clearly there’s a lot of links within Blogs, reviews and forums where folk have referenced the Nerja Villa Rentals web site and there’s very little chance of getting those links changed, so we run the risk of losing the “link juice” from most of them.  Thankfully we are holding onto the original domain and and there’s what is called a permanent redirect (code 301) that we can set on the original domains server which informs the search engines, when they follow the original links to the original site, that there is a new location for the content of the page and this new location for the Nerja Villa Rentals will be updated over time within the search engines and the transfer of most of the “authority” value of a site should move over to the new domain.

Google’s Matt Cutts mentioned in his blog that its a good idea to leave up the 301 redirections on the old domain for at least 18months…   clearly because there’s not guarantee that Google will cover the whole of the inbound links/web pages of a sight within a shorter period of time.  Of course, this means continuing to pay the domain and hosting fees of the old domain along with the new domain.  However, under the circumstances and the importance of maintaining a decent position within Google for Nerja Accommodation Rental then we have no other option.

Travelocity Makes Planning Easy

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Visiting new places is wonderful, traveling to and from them is frequently not so wonderful. Travelocity makes many parts of traveling easier. I always go to Travelocity first when I am looking to travel and they have great deals. I am so concerned about the cost of traveling that I almost always check other sites before I book. Travelocity always has the best prices.

I have arranged several trips at Travelocity and have always had good luck. Trips are easy to plan right from the get go. The package deals they offer (airfare and rental car for example) make arranging a trip simple. I like that when I am looking for a particular flight I can check and see how many seats are still available. If they still have a lot left I don’t have to hurry and make a decision, if there are only a couple available on a flight I need, I know ahead of time and book it early. There is nothing worse than planning a trip in your head assuming you will have a certain flight and then find out that it is full when you try to finalize your plans. Travelocity makes it so easy to search and get exactly what I want.

While Travelocity always seems to have the lowest rates for me, it is always nice to save more. I have found Travelocity coupon codes that make the deals even better. This way I can travel exactly where I want and when I want and save even more money doing it.

Are Astrive Student Loans The Solution For You?

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

For those in need of supplemental money to help pay for school, Astrive student loans may be what you need in order to get the financing you require. Astrive student loans are private loans that are established to help cover the costs of schooling that are not paid for by the standard federally funded financial aid packages.

There are several ways that you can acquire Astrive student loans. First, you can apply by yourself. In order to do so, you need to have an extremely good credit history that has matured for at least 26 months. This is typically difficult for young adults to meet, so the majority of individuals making use of Astrive student loans apply with a co-signer. A co-signer is an individual with good credit rating that is willing to vouch for you and take responsibility for your student loan. A co-signer must meet a certain list of requirements in order to be eligible. They may also work as graduate student loans.

There are several requirements that you will need to meet in order to be eligible for Astrive student loans. First, you must know which college you are going to attend. This is important, as Astrive must contact the school and acquire information on the loan process for that specific school. In addition to that, they will verify that you will be attending that school, and set up the process of fund transfers from Astrive to the school. Look here for more student loan consolidation information.

Astrive student loans function very similar to how federally funded loans do. There is the same six month grace period associated with federal funding, and a very similar application process. However, unlike federal funding, Astrive student loans are not bound to the same type of limitations that federal funds are. Federal funding will only permit a certain amount per student, while Astrive student loans are usually more flexible. If your credit rating and history, as well as that of your co-signer, support a higher limit, you can receive the limit that you need. This is extremely useful for those who are enrolled in certain higher education centers, as these schools are typically a great deal more expensive. As a means to pay even distance learning degree costs these may be the way for your success.

Like many financial centers, and unlike federal funding, Astrive student loans applications can be rejected for any reason. These can include downturns in the economy, as well as based off of chances that you may default on the loan. The higher the risk you are, the more chances your application will not be approved.

Have A Multimeter In Your Toolbox

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

In today’s world there are a lot of reasons to have a multimeter in your toolbox. Though it wasn’t always the case where everyone had a multimeter, in fact, the most common hand held meter that was around for the do-it-yourself-er was the analog volt meter. The biggest reason was because of the cost and lack of knowledge. Now the cost of a digital multimeter is of no concern unless you want the higher quality multimeter.

There are many types of multimeters on the market with cost starting below $10.00 up to many hundreds of dollars. There are still analog multimeters available though they are harder to find because everyone wants a more easy to read digital multimeter. I remember the days when my trusty little analog voltmeter would give me a reading that was all over the scale and it was very hard to pin point the exact reading when charging a battery and 13.8volts was the goal.

You don’t have to be a electrician to under stand the basics of electricity but you better respect it or it will knock you on your butt or worst! Even DC [direct current] can give you trouble, have you ever touch a spark plug when your car engine is running or how did you feel after touching a electric fence?

AC [alternating current] is the common power source for the home or job. The first rule in trouble shooting anything electrical is to turn off all power sources before you start to disassemble anything and then take your multimeter and test the wires for any electricity before your hands touch anything. Turning off the light switch isn’t enough go to the beaker box and turn the power source off. Even then you better test the wires because you may have a back feed from another source.

Just the volt meter in your multimeter will save you a lot of agony when doing house repairs. With a little practice you will find that trusty multimeter giving you a lot of satisfaction in hunting down that faulty circuit or why that light doesn’t work. Common sense and a good book on how to work with electricity using a multimeter will put you in good standing.

Global Warming Means Fleas Around Longer

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Because the warmer seasons are lasting longer, many places in the Northern Hemisphere are having problems with fleas. It used to be that many cities and states were too cold for fleas or, a least, they disapperad in the wintertime. But due to Global Warming, flea season is now year round in many new places.

Are you and your pets being made miseable by fleas? Here is some basic information about fleas to get you up to speed on this problem.

Identification and Important Facts about Fleas - Fleas not only cause an itchy problem for you and your pets; they also can pose a number of health problems if a flea infestation is not kept under control. You know if your pet has fleas by the incessant scratching and biting on their coats and skin. If they scratch and bite enough, the skin will break open, inviting infection. The same principle follows when you are bitten by fleas too. Do you know how to recognize flea bites and the pesky critters themselves?

Description of the FleaFleas are very small, usually no bigger than 1/16 of an inch. They are dark in color, usually a reddish-brown, with a flat body. Fleas have no wings but the body is covered with tiny spines and they have long legs perfect for jumping. There are four stages of the flea’s life cycle: the egg, larva, pupa and the adult, capable of biting. One single flea is capable of laying several thousand eggs in its lifetime – the reason why flea infestations can occur so quickly!

A Few Facts about Fleas – Fleas love warmer weather as it is easier for them to survive and reproduce. In fact, in southern regions and newer place, fleas procreate year-round. Over 90% of fleas experience their life stages in the environment of a pet or other animal, rather than the pet itself. For the most part, animals are affected by only the adult fleas that have the mouth for biting and the legs for jumping.

When fleas are a problem in a particular pet, not just the pet should be treated. Obviously the eggs, larvae and pupa of the flea have been laid around the environment such as the immediate yard, rugs inside the home, animal beds, furniture and even curtains, bed linens and anywhere else the animal has roamed. Killing just the adult fleas is not enough. Treating the entire pet environment is necessary to kill the fleas in the other three stages of development.

Flea allergy dermatitis, tapeworm and anemia may result in pets affected by fleas. All three can severely compromise the health of your pet if left untreated. Fleas are easy to treat but with more aggressive cases, you may have to do it several times. There are plenty of effective topical treatments for the pets themselves but you may also have to treat the yard as well as the home with a fogger that will kill the eggs, larvae and pupa that will eventually hatch into adult biting fleas.

Once you can get a flea infestation under control, the preventative maintenance is a breeze. While you or your pets can definitely get fleas from other sources, you cannot control those areas. You can only control your own (and your pet’s) environment.

Improve Mood with L-Tyrosine

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Tyrosine is an amino acid that is important for building proteins. For most people, the body can make its own, although it is also found in protein-rich foods. People with phenylketonuria must obtain tyrosine through the diet, since they cannot produce it. Even though it is a large amino acid, tyrosine can cross the blood brain barrier to enter the brain, and may have numerous different effects in the brain. It is not known how tyrosine may work for a variety of different disorders.

Tyrosine may help athletes avoid overtraining, due to its ability to offset fatigue. Because tyrosine caps is a precursor of Dopamine, supplementing with Tyrosine may heighten mental alertness, increase feelings of well being, and offset physical and mental fatigue.

The body is able to make non-essential amino acids from other amino acids in the body. However, the body is not able to make essential amino acids and the only way to get them is by eating high quality protein foods. Protein sources that contain all of the essential amino acids are called complete proteins. Whey protein is a naturally complete protein.

It is a building block for several important neurotransmitters, including epinephrine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine. Neurotransmitters help nerve cells communicate and influence mood. Tyrosine also helps produce melanin (the pigment responsible for hair and skin color) and helps in the function of organs responsible for making and regulating hormones, including the adrenal, thyroid, and pituitary glands. It is involved in the structure of almost every protein in the body.

Tyrosine deficiencies are rare. Low levels have been associated with low blood pressure, low body temperature, and an underactive thyroid. This does not mean, however, that taking l tyrosine supplements will improve any of these conditions.

A safe and effective dose has not yet been established. Be sure to follow the specific instructions on your particular tyrosine product but as a rule of thumb, most individuals can consume 500mgs twice a day with out worry even though this amino acid has zero side effects. Quality Tyrosine can be found at your local or internet health food store in brands such as Solaray vitamins and Source Naturals at reasonable prices.

*Statements contained herein have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. The amino acid tyrosine is not intended to diagnose, treat and cure or prevent disease. Always consult with your professional health care provider before changing any medication or adding Vitamins to medications.

Family Health – How to Avoid Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Disclaimer:  Please remember that if you have a medical issue, you should always consult your doctor before accepting any other medical advice.

Many people might find the following information helpful when dealing with proper nutrition for the colon.

Most families find themselves eating on the go. Dashing into the fast lane of McDonald’s gets you in and out quickly, but not necessarily with nutritious food choices.

Are you or your children frequently constipated or experiencing diarrhea? Many times, parents will either be constipated themselves, or find that their child has put off going to the bathroom too long and is now in pain. Making adjustments in your daily intake of proper amounts of fiber can help adults and children alike avoid inflammatory bowel disease.

The term inflammatory bowel disease describes a chronic condition of intestinal inflammation and ulceration that is difficult to name one cause. There is information that leads us to believe much of the problem of constipation is avoided through healthy eating habits.

The two most common examples of inflamed bowel syndrome are Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The man symptoms of both conditions re persistent diarrhea, rectal bleeding, fever, abdominal cramps and weight loss. Inflammatory bowel diseases require expert medical care. Alternative therapies should be used to reduce stress or to devise a diet that minimizes symptoms.

Food Power

Proper nutrition is probably the single most important nonmedical treatment for inflammatory bowel disease. Although experts do not agree on which foods if any play a role in causing these disorders, the typical symptoms of reduced appetite, poor absorption of nutrients and diarrhea rob the body of essential fluids, nutrients, vitamins, and minerals.

Nutrition therapy is aimed at restoring a proper nutritional balance and, in severe cases, resting the bowel to give it a chance to heal. Bland, low-fiber foods are recommended during a flare=up. Foods that are difficult to digest, such as raw vegetables, raw or dried fruits, nuts and seeds, Bran, and whole grains should be avoided. To combat dehydration, a potentially serious side effect of diarrhea during a flare-up, increase your fluid intake.

Drink water, clear broth, or a re-hydration fluid such as Gatorade, which also helps replace the electrolytes that are lost during bouts of diarrhea. And try the BRAT diet, bananas, rice, applesauce and toast.

Patients with Crohn’s disease are often put on a high-protein diet, and many require nutritional supplements and concentrated liquid feedings.

Other Remedies

  • Massages or relaxing baths incorporating basil, bergamot, and jasmine oils are recommended by aromatherapists to reduce stress.
  • The breathing, meditation, and gentle exercises of yoga are helpful in controlling stress and perhaps preventing recurrences.
  •

Kids frequently don’t take the time, ignoring their body signals, to go to the bathroom. Make sure young children are reminded and that schedules are not so hectic as to discourage proper body elimination. Parents may ignore this problem until it becomes very serious, simply by not giving proper importance to healthy bowel movements, even in their own daily routine.

Protect your children by teaching good nutrition, and helping them understand how important it is to take time to have a bowel movement! What goes in, must come out!

Hawaii Vacations: So Much to See and Do

    Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Planning a Hawaii vacation can be quite involved – there are so many unique features on each of the islands and so little time to visit them. Hawaii contains huge waterfalls, majestic mountains, and wildlife, plants and flowers you can find nowhere else. Whatever your plans for a vacation, Hawaii has something for you, and it will take some thought for you to decide on what you want out of your vacation.

One of the popular options is to stay at a resort. Several resorts offer packages which give you hotel stay, drinks, meals, and activities as well. Some resorts will have amenities such as a club for kids, a salon and spa, on site shopping, and provide tours to the island’s attractions. Ask your friends and family members for recommendations, and check with a travel agent for suggestions. Several resorts have great sales and promotions, too.

Be sure to travel to other islands during your stay. Kauai, in particular, is a popular vacation destination. Choosing a Kauai vacation package might just be a perfect trip! As the second largest of the islands, Maui is another popular destination in Hawaii. History buffs may choose to travel to Oahu, location of Pearl Harbor. Those into geology can take a tour of Mauna Kea, an active volcano on the “Big Island” of Hawaii.

A Hawaii cruise is another wonderful choice. Actually enjoying yourself on the ocean is far superior to an ocean-front hotel. A cruise around the islands lets you see all the islands, as well as exploring a variety or different ports and seeing what each island has to offer. When you are on the cruise ship there are plenty of fun activities and fine dining. Venture off the ship during port calls for hiking, biking, and an authentic taste of Hawaiian food. Theme cruises are available, such as family cruises with kid-friendly activities, or couples cruises with romantic activities and ambience.

Whatever you choose for your Hawaii vacation package, your experience is sure to be memorable. After you arrive in Hawaii, remember to ask locals for recommendations and suggestions to enhance the authenticity of your trip. Take lots of photographs, wear sunscreen, and most of all, have fun! Visit GreatHawaiiHotels.net for more information to help you plan your Hawaiian vacation and for a great selection of Big Island hotels, Maui hotels and Kauai hotels.
