KVM switches to Download Speeds and Memory upgrade Info.
Having purchased my computer last year, with fantastic specs which includes very fast quad core processor, Ram to help its speed and a hard drive that stores more than I can hurl at it I have been checking out things that might better the PC I already have.
Firstly If your processor is still competing with the market and is able to cope with working with the software you are using you don’t have to consider searching for a new one. If it isn’t you may want to think about a new board and processor. Usually however once you begin down this road it is possibly worth just buying a new desktop as the individual parts frequently come in at more than a new whole computer.
Second if we take it that your chipset is fast enough, load up the Ram it allows your processor the space to work at maximum efficiency. Find out which board you have and put the details into Google and you should be able to find what Ram your System can take (the price of memory has reduced by such a great deal it’s of value investing in it).
Thirdly if you have a large vault of music or imagery that you want to store, change, access, play then have an individual super speedy drive to allow you to access your data speedily don’t be tricked by big disc sizes which have a rotation and read speed RPM of 5400 not acceptable, 7400 exceptable and 9600 Yeha!. These 1st three are things that will influence your every day appreciation of computing.
Fourthly If you have an old computer that is good, but no longer cuts the mustard, you don’t have to get shot of it you can have it as an auxiliary system that you work with when you require the data stored on that device and let it run applications behind the scenes without effecting your new PC in anyway. The use of a KVM switch is brilliant for this as it permits you to jump between computers using the same Keyboard, Mouse and Monitor to access both PC’s at the click of a swith.
Ensure you get the best Broadband connection you can afford. You don’t have to have the large file through put of an Austin Hughes Rack mount Server to need a download speed that wont seem like its frozen when you download images, videos or music. Look on the net to find a provider in your localiy, then discover what the top download speed your telephone line can normally carry, instead of the one fronted by the provider (it just stops you paying out lots of cash for download speeds you will never reach) if you can tie in unlimited download amounts to this it helps though most people get caught by the fair use policy if you are downloading large files.
